Biography

Dr. Waldo Concepcion is Transplantation Surgery Consultant at Al Jalila Children's and was previously Chief of Clinical Transplantation and Chief of Pediatric Kidney Transplantation at Stanford University Hospital and Clinics, USA. He specialises in kidney and liver transplantation, liver tumors, dialysis access, and surgical treatment of liver, pancreas, and bile ducts. 

Dr. Waldo completed his medical school at Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, Mexico, developed a passion for transplantation and spent two years working in a research lab with his mentor Dr. Leonard Bailey, training in heart transplantation. After his Residency, he went to the University of Pittsburgh under the guidance of Dr. Thomas Starzl, the father of modern organ transplantation. Dr. Waldo's passion and focus has been the treatment of children with kidney and liver disease. He has developed innovative surgical techniques to treat children with complex vascular problems and is able to provide kidney transplantation. Dr. Waldo continues to research on kidney regeneration by mesenchymal stem cell and immunomodulation of the immune response by the use of apoptotic DNA technology.
