Dr. Nandu Thalange is Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist at Al Jalila Children’s and graduated from King’s College, London in 1988, intent on a career in paediatric endocrinology. After junior posts at King’s College Hospital and other hospitals around London, he moved to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital to take up a research training post in paediatric endocrinology. His research at that time was focused primarily on the physiology of normal and abnormal growth and culminated in 3 significant papers in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, Pediatric Research and Archives of Diseases of Childhood.After completing his research post, Dr. Nandu moved to East Anglia, completing his training in Norwich and Cambridge, including a year in child public health. In 2002, Nandu took up a post as a Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in East Anglia, until he left in April 2017. He ran a large paediatric endocrinology, diabetes and weight management service, including specialist clinics for neurofibromatosis, achondroplasia and bone disease, notably osteoporosis and osteogenesis imperfecta. The diabetes service had over 350 children and adolescents with diabetes (including 60% on insulin pumps), and achieved excellent results in the National Diabetes Audit.Dr. Nandu has been an investigator in a number of collaborative multicenter research studies, in diabetes and endocrinology, including being chief investigator for the international multi-center trials that led to the approval of insulin detemir and insulin degludec in children, worldwide. His other research interests include hypertension, (he co-authored a paper on the normal ranges for blood pressure in Great Britain, based on an analysis of over 20000 children and young adults), psychological impacts of disease, epidemiology, and child public health, particularly avoidable child mortality. He is a public speaker and frequently presents to international audiences.

Dr. Ruba is an Adolescent Medicine Consultant at Al Jalila Children’s. She is American Board Certified in both General Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics as well as a member of several Adolescent Medicine specific organizations. Dr. Rizk has presented at numerous international and national conferences as an expert in her field and, plays an integral role in resident education.She has taken up a unique and challenging role at Al Jalila Children’s as the only adolescent medicine trained health care provider in Dubai. Her role involves caring for teenagers and young adults between the ages of 12 to 21 years, striving to provide them with quality health care encompassing their specific physical, emotional and social needs. Her clinical interests include paediatric gynaecology, reproductive health and endocrinology, eating disorders and weight management.

Dr. Mireille is a Paediatric Endocrinologist at Al Jalila Children’s. She graduated from the American University of Beirut in 2010 and completed her training as a paediatrician in the US at Wayne State University in Michigan. She subsequently pursued a paediatric endocrinology fellowship at Emory University. She holds the American Board of General Pediatrics and Pediatric Endocrinology. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Pediatric Endocrine Society. Dr. El Bejjani has presented at international and national conferences as an expert in her field.Her role involves caring for children with diabetes, hormonal disturbances and growth problems. She is committed to providing them with the best medical care through an individualized approach to each patient that takes into account their social and emotional needs, and shared decision making that empowers patients and their families.
Consultant Paediatrician, Mediclinic Parkview Hospital
Dr David Cremonisini is trained and qualified in Paediatrics and Allergy in the UK. He studied at Oxford University and then in London and has worked as a Paediatrician since 1997. He has worked at Royal Brompton Hospital specialising in breathing problems and in 2018 graduated from the University of Southampton with an MSc in Allergy. Dr David has worked as a consultant in Paediatrics in UK since 2010. From 2014 – 2016 he was a consultant paediatrician at American Hospital, Dubai. He is a general paediatrician but has a speciality in allergy and performs skin prick tests and food challenges. He can manage all allergic conditions including asthma, eczema, food allergy, and anaphylaxis. He also works with the dietician at Mediclinic Parkview Hospital and has links with ENT, dermatology and lung function laboratory. He also looks after children with breathing problems such as cough, breathlessness and has links with chest physiotherapy. Dr. David is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and is an examiner for them.

Dr. Ehtisham graduated from the University of Cambridge in the UK and undertook her clinical training at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. She is an exceptionally experienced paediatric endocrinologist who has received many research awards for her investigations into childhood diabetes.Dr Ehtisham has been a Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist at Mediclinic City Hospital in Dubai since May 2016 and is Adjunct Professor of Paediatric Endocrinology at Mohammed Bin Rashid University Medical School in Dubai. Prior to joining Mediclinic City Hospital, she was a Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist and Clinical Lead for diabetes at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, UK and she was also an honorary senior lecturer in Endocrinology at the University of Manchester. She has also worked as a Paediatric Endocrinologist in Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Ehtisham received her PhD in Childhood Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes in 2006 and her CCST in Paediatric Endocrinology in 2007.

Dr. Heather Wadams is from Calgary, Canada, and is triple boarded in Paediatrics, Paediatric Endocrinology and Obesity Medicine. She completed Paediatric Residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania, and went on to complete Fellowship in Paediatric Endocrinology from Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Wadams has a Master’s in Healthcare Administration from Seton Hall, New Jersey, and is an active member of the Pediatric Endocrine Society and sits on the Communications Committee. Dr. Heather is currently a Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist for SEHA, Abu Dhabi. She has a special interest in metabolic bone diseases, pituitary disorders, and the treatment of children with obesity. She has established a Weight Management Clinic for Children that are overweight.
Senior Clinical Dietitian, Al Jalila Children’s
Natacha Ajaka is Senior Clinical Dietitian at Al Jalila Children’s. She graduated from the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, Lebanon, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics and a Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Public Health. Natacha has tackled numerous clinical nutrition and public health concerns such as nutrition in oncology patients, eating disorders and nutrition, common nutritional mistakes, nutrition in diabetes and many more. Besides having worked at Latifa Women and Children’s Hospital, Dubai, as Senior Clinical Dietitian, Natacha has participated in several public health awareness campaigns with Dubai Health Authority (DHA). Her major fields of interests are paediatric oncology and nutrition, low Microbial Diet application, follow up in bone marrow transplant patients, nutrition related complications and deficiencies in Beta Thalassemia Major patients, nutritional management of Type I and Type II Diabetes and medical nutrition therapy in mental health/eating disorder patients. At Al Jalila Children’s, Natacha works on the implementation of eating disorder nutritional guidelines for inpatients and outpatients.
