Shaping the Future of Child & Adolescent Mental Health: IACAPAP 2022 Dubai Identity Launched

The new identity reflects vibrancy, tolerance and multiculturalism of Dubai

The International Association of Child and Adolescent

Psychiatrists and Allied Professionals (IACAPAP) in collaboration with Al Jalila

Children’s Specialty Hospital (AJCH) has launched the identity for its 25 th World

Congress, to be held from the 19-25 th March 2022 in Dubai.

Launched under the theme of Child and Adolescent Mental Health: Shaping the

Future!, IACAPAP 2022 Dubai will form a platform for discussion of the world’s latest

research, explore the current mental health challenges of children and adolescents

as well as highlight the cutting edge tools that are set to improve mental health.

IACAPAP represents child and adolescent mental health experts from all over the

world and held its first global congress in 1936. This prestigious biannual world

congress is for the first time being held in an Arab city.

Dubai has been selected as the host city to serve as a catalyst in paving the way for

mental health professionals to gather, incubate and nurture new ideas and initiatives.

The colours and elements of the new Congress logo encompass the vibrancy,

tolerance and multiculturalism that forms the DNA of the city of Dubai.

The Congress will be hosted by Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital (AJCH), the

only children’s hospital in the UAE, and the Emirates Society of Child and

Adolescent Mental Health (ESCAM), which represents this field nationally under the

umbrella of the Emirates Medical Association (EMA) and aims to advance clinical

services, research and education related to child and adolescent mental health in the

UAE.

Dr Mohammed Al Awadhi, COO, AJCH, said: “We are elated at the launch of the

IACAPAP 2022 Dubai identity. The Congress being held for the first time in Dubai

points to the fact that we are taking steady steps towards enhancing paediatric

mental health in the UAE. Hosting this conference is set to make a tangible

difference to the mental health and wellbeing of our community members.”

Dr Daniel Fung, President, IACAPAP, said: “The needs and demands of children and

young people are evolving with the onset of globalisation, which has worsened in the

new technology and media age. The mental health of children needs to be catered to

by a diverse set of professionals. The IACAPAP World Congress brings all this

together, addressing the mental health challenges for the next generation and the

caretakers of these challenges; to advocate for promoting the mental health and

development of children and adolescents through policy, practice and research.”

As a global conferences and events hub, Dubai will attract esteemed attendees from

around the world to its first-class venues and hospitality offerings; with ease of travel

attributed to its vast worldwide connections.

Not only does Dubai and the UAE place individuals, including children and their

families, at the centre of its focus with its national programme for wellbeing; but it is

world-renowned as a technology and start-up hub and so is ideally placed to host a

congress exploring the latest technologies.

Registration for IACAPAP 2022 Dubai will open nine months prior to the Congress,

including the submission of abstracts and research.
