Al Jalila Children’s to highlight paediatric healthcare at Arab Health

  • UAE’s only children’s hospital to highlight scope of paediatric healthcare available to community
  • First of its kind Sleep Centre and Orthopaedic Clinic and related services to be showcased

Dubai, January 28, 2018: Al Jalila Children’s, the only children’s hospital in the United Arab Emirates, will be participating at the upcoming Arab Health 2018 within the Dubai Health Care City (DHCC) stand A30 at Hall 6 of the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The 200-bed facility completed one year of operations in November 2017 and currently has five centres of excellence and over 25 speciality clinics.

Besides highlighting the speciality clinics, services, and the high level of paediatric healthcare provided to the community through the expertise of its consultants, Al Jalila Children’s will showcase two of its newly opened clinics –  a specialised paediatric orthopaedic service and the first of its kind Sleep Centre in the Middle East. The hospital will also look at forging partnerships with international paediatric healthcare providers to enhance the high level of care currently provided to patients.

The newly opened paediatric Orthopaedic Clinic is a full-fledged facility with the ability to treat all kinds of fractures and musculoskeletal disorders in addition to orthopaedic surgery. The Clinic is led by Dr. Susan Austin, Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedics and Spine Surgeon, who has over 20 years of experience and has been recognised for her work in the US and around the world.

Al Jalila Children’s will also highlight the Sleep Centre, which is the only one of its kind in the Middle East that encompasses an entire sleep umbrella. It includes a state-of-the-art sleep laboratory and behavioural sleep clinic, a medical sleep clinic, and a CPAP adherence programme.

“Arab Health is, without doubt, the leading platform in the MENA region for industry stakeholders to converge and discuss the latest advancements in healthcare. We are particularly excited to be part of the exhibition for the second year because as the only children’s hospital in the UAE, we have a lot to showcase concerning paediatric healthcare. Our scope of participation in Arab Health is only expected to grow in the coming years as we are committed to ensuring that this region benefits from the expertise we have to offer. At the end, we want children in this region to have access to a high level of healthcare,” said Dr. Mohamad Alawadhi, Chief Operating Officer at Al Jalila Children’s.

Al Jalila Children’s was created under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, and received an estimated 22,597 outpatient and ER visits, 1,470 inpatients, and performed 485 successful surgeries in addition to 535 dialysis sessions between November 2016 and December 2017.
