Al Jalila Children’s has launched four new multi-disciplinary clinics as part of its continuous efforts to elevate the standards of paediatric healthcare in UAE and the region.
The main objective of a multi-disciplinary clinic is to provide a holistic approach towards certain complex diseases through a multidisciplinary group of healthcare professionals who have cognitive and procedural expertise in different areas of care delivery and can efficiently manage complex medical conditions. The four clinics are the Diabetes Clinic, the Aerodigestive Clinic, Sleep Disorders Lab & Centre, in addition to the Weight and Wellness Clinic that will start receiving patients in January, 2019.
Dr. Mohamed Al Awadhi, COO of Al Jalila Children’s said: “Al Jalila Children’s is an ultra-modern ‘one-stop-shop’ for premium paediatric healthcare in UAE and the region. In general, any child that comes to us has the advantage of our 360 degrees diagnosis approach. Meaning, if it needs to be, the child will be examined by several world class doctors so we can give the family the best and most accurate diagnosis possible.”
“This is more evident in our new multi-disciplinary clinics, where our specialists become more focused on the issue at hand and try to give the best transparent advice along with a swift course of treatment to the child and his family,” Dr. Al Awadhi concluded.
The Diabetes Clinic at Al Jalila Children’s is a multi-disciplinary and one-of-a-kind service featuring a highly-experienced team of two consultants, a diabetes educator, a dietitian, and a psychologist. The Clinic offers comprehensive care to infants, children and adolescents up to 18 years old with all types of diabetes, including Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes, cystic fibrosis-related diabetes, steroid-induced diabetes, post-pancreatectomy diabetes, and rare genetic forms of diabetes.
The Aerodigestive Clinic is the only multidisciplinary programme in the UAE that includes paediatric specialists in pulmonology, ENT, gastroenterology, anesthesiology, feeding, swallowing and nutrition. Aerodigestive disorders are conditions that affect both the pulmonary and gastrointestinal systems. These conditions are generally complex and require a multidisciplinary approach to their management.
The Sleep Centre offers a one of a kind service in the Middle East that encompasses an entire sleep umbrella. It includes a state-of-the-art sleep laboratory and behavioural sleep clinic, a medical sleep clinic, and a CPAP adherence programme. It is managed by a multidisciplinary team of medical professionals with expertise in treating sleep disorders in children of all ages, from newborns to adolescents with international standards of care and individualized treatment plans that cater to the requirements of each child and their families.
The Weight & Wellness Clinic offers patients the most advanced care available for weight management. Our goal is to provide innovative and compassionate weight management and bariatric care. Through collaboration, education, and medical therapies, we help our patients develop a skill set that empowers them to take ownership of their wellness journey.
