The Academic Programme

The curriculum of the fellowship child and adolescent psychiatry training intends to define, for trainees and educators, the knowledge base that underpins the acquisition of competency-based learning over the duration of the two-year program, within formal and informal educational settings and in accordance with the Saudi fellowship Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Curriculum. During the didactic sessions, the programme offers a protected educational time.

The Academic Programme Activities include

  • Weekly regular half day of didactic teaching.
  • Weekly Multidisciplinary Mental Health Ground Round:( case-based discussions and topic presentations)
  • Monthly Journal Club meetings.
  • Weekly 1:1 clinical supervision with the designated clinical supervisor in psychiatry and psychotherapy
  • Weekly group psychotherapy supervision
  • Mortality and Morbidity meetings every 2 months
  • Weekly Paediatric Hospital Grand Round.

Research Activities

The Mental Health Centre of Excellence integrates research findings in our daily practice through applying innovative diagnostics and treatments measures to improve the quality of patients’ care. Research or service quality projects are statutory during the training period. Each trainee is required to develop, conduct and complete a research project with the submission before graduation from the program.
