Dr. Haitham is the head of Neurosciences Centre at Al Jalila Children’s and Paediatric Neurorehabilitation Consultant. In 1994, he graduated from the University of Khartoum, Sudan, with distinction and University Prize in Paediatrics, and then completed all his general and specialist paediatric training in the UK. Before joining Al Jalila Children’s, he was the head of the Child Development and Paediatric Rehabilitation section at Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar and prior to that, was a consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital and Islington in London, UK.
He is a fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, UK. He also held academic appointments at Queen Mary, University of London and then a senior lecturer at the Institute of Child Health, University College London. He was also an associate Professor of Clinical Paediatrics at Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar.
Dr. Haitham’s area of clinical interest includes cerebral palsy, spina bifida, brain injury and neurodevelopmental disabilities. He has participated in several conferences and symposiums regionally, nationally and internationally. He has published in peer-review journals.
Dr. Nidheesh completed his medical graduation from Kozhikode Medical College, Kerala, India. He did his post-graduation in paediatrics from MP Shah Medical College in India. He was awarded a gold medal during his residency for outstanding performance. He has worked as an assistant professor in various medical colleges across India. He pursued his interest in paediatric neurology and did a fellowship in paediatric neurology at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, which is one of the renowned centres of paediatric neurology in south India. He is also trained in neurophysiology and was part of a comprehensive epileptic surgery team.
Gail Alexander is the Clinical
Nurse Specialist in paediatric neurology at Al Jalila Children's. Gail qualified as a registered nurse in
paediatrics in 2002 and began her career as a paediatric nurse at Sick Kids
Hospital in Glasgow, Scotland, in the specialties of neurology, respiratory,
rheumatology and general medicine. She progressed in her career in paediatric neurology in 2006 when she started in her role as paediatric neurology/epilepsy nurse specialist which allowed her to work with other members of the
multi-disciplinary team in providing the best care available to children in
the ward and outpatient department.
Gail worked within the outpatient
department at the Sick Kids Hospital in Glasgow for 8 years as clinical nurse specialist in paediatric epilepsy/neurology care. During this time, she was able
to support patients and their families with education and disease
management, discharge planning and in doing so she worked closely with medical
staff and all members of the multi-disciplinary team and allied health care
professionals. Gail progressed to the role of clinical nurse specialist in epilepsy care at the Royal Alexandra Hospital Scotland where she remained for 5
years before moving to Dubai to start in her current role as Neurology Nurse
Gail holds a Bachelor of Science in
Nursing degree from the University of the West of Scotland, along with a
Diploma in Epilepsy Care from Leeds University and is also a registered
Independent Nurse Prescriber in the UK. Gail can help with providing
information regarding many neurological conditions, also seizure management and
information regarding treatment. Information regarding seizure management,
investigations and treatment options as well as offering support and education
for children and their families.
