Joel Sanchez joined Al Jalila Children’s in 2017 as a Pulmonary Function Technologist and is responsible for managing and conducting all of the test procedures that take place in the pulmonary function laboratory. He also works alongside doctors in the Sleep Clinic to provide a CPAP therapy initiation and adherence service.Prior to this, Joel was based in the United Kingdom working as a Specialist Clinical Respiratory Physiologist at the Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust and also for the University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust working at both the Bristol Royal Infirmary and the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.He initially studied a Bachelor’s degree in Human Physiology and then later went on to study Clinical Physiology and Respiratory Physiology at Swansea University, where he also trained within various NHS hospitals throughout Wales. In late-2017, prior to starting his position at Al Jalila Children’s, he completed a post-graduate diploma in Respiratory Medicine at University of South Wales.Joel is a member of the Association for Respiratory Technology and Physiology (ARTP) and has an ARTP Practitioner Level Qualification, he also has European Respiratory Society Membership and is a registrant of the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists in the UK.Joel Sanchez has significant experience with a variety of medical equipment and devices that are used to carry out a broad range of diagnostic tests, which are useful in diagnosing respiratory disease and for the management of sleep related breathing disorders with positive airway pressure therapies such as; CPAP and BiPAP devices.
