Nerve Conduction Velocity test

A nerve conduction velocity (NCV) test is used to assess nerve damage and dysfunction. The study measures how electrical signals move through the peripheral nerves. It can also help your doctor tell the difference between a nerve disorder and a condition where a nerve injury has affected the muscles. Some of the common disorders that can be diagnosed by nerve conduction studies are:

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Cubital Tunnel Syndrome
  • Guillain–Barré syndrome
  • Guyon’s canal syndrome
  • Peripheral neuropathy
  • Spinal disc herniation
  • Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Ulnar neuropathy
