Dr. Mohamad Bitar is a Consultant in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at Al Jalila Children’s. He is fellowship trained in Paediatric Otolaryngology at the Children’s National Medical Center and the George Washington University School of Medicine, Washington, DC.Dr. Bitar is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Royal Society of Medicine and a member of several international specialty societies, including the American Society of Paediatric Otolaryngology and the American Academy of Paediatrics.Dr. Bitar established the Paediatric Otolaryngology discipline at the American University of Beirut – Medical Center, which he led from 2002 to 2013. He then joined the staff of the Department of ENT Surgery at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Sydney, Australia form 2013 to 2014.He was a member of several university/medical board committees for improvement of teaching and medical services at AUB. As an Assistant and then Associate Professor, Dr. Bitar was involved in teaching and research in the field of Paediatric Otolaryngology and has published more than 40 articles pertinent to his field. He has also participated in many national, regional and international meetings and workshops. He is an active reviewer of several prestigious medical journals and a member of the editorial board of specialty journals.Dr. Bitar is currently an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at the American University of Beirut. His expertise and interest include medical and surgical management of: hearing loss (including cochlear implantation), chronic ear diseases, paediatric airway surgery (endoscopic & open), benign neck masses, sinus disorders, microtia and prominent ears; in addition to general Paediatric Otolaryngology disorders.
Dr. Safeena Kherani is a Consultant in Paediatric Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital. She has over 15 years of professional experience, including pediatric otolaryngology work with SEHA in Abu Dhabi, Children’s Hospital of Philadephia (CHOP) in the USA, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) in Canada, and the Carleton Place District and Memorial Hospital (CPDMH) in Canada.She received a Top 40 under 40 awards in Ottawa, Canada for her work building a multi-disciplinary clinic using progressive technology (ENT MDs) which resulted in her being ranked as the top ENT surgeon in Canada on RateMDs.com. Over the past two years, she led the development of pediatric ENT services for SEHA in Abu Dhabi and initiated an American Accredited Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery Residency programme.Dr. Kherani has strong knowledge and experience in medical and surgical management of: snoring, noisy breathing and stridor, paediatric nasal, sinus and airway surgery, hearing loss and middle ear disease, benign neck masses as well as other general paediatric otolaryngology disorders.
Dr. Tanvir Nazir is Specialist – Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at Al Jalila Children’s. He specializes in general paediatric otolaryngology, with specific clinical interest in paediatric throat and airway diseases, hyper nasality, and paediatric sinonasal diseases. Dr. Tanvir Nazir received his medical degree from the University of Kashmir, India. He completed his Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery residency training at government medical college Srinagar and The SKIMS Srinagar, India. Dr. Tanvir is a member of the Middle East Academy of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery and the Association of Otolaryngologists of India. He has many scientific presentations and published articles in international journals. He is dedicated to treating the full range of childhood ear, nose, and throat disorders including congenital head and neck masses, airway disorders, hearing loss, sleep apnea, and chronic infections of the ears, nose, and throat. Trained in the latest techniques and practices, he is committed to staying on the leading edge of medicine through ongoing research in paediatric sleep apnea. Dr. Tanvir aims to tailor his practice and treatment recommendations to the individual patient and family.
Sabine graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor degree in Speech &
Language Therapy from the Lebanese University in Lebanon. She worked for one
year in Lebanon, and then moved to Kuwait, and in September 2009, relocated to Dubai.
She specializes in the field of hearing loss and therefore, throughout all her
career journey, she has exclusively worked with the paediatric deaf and ‘hard
of hearing’ community. She has attended several training programmes and has presented numerous workshops, talks, and organized campaigns to raise more awareness.
As part of her work, Sabine carries out therapy sessions
(individual and group), assessments and consultations for the deaf and hard of
hearing children and devises appropriate therapy programmes. She provides
guidance and recommendations to parents, teachers and professionals involved in
a child’s team, highlighting each individual’s needs. Throughout her varied work
placements, Sabine has also had the opportunity to work with children and families
from various cultural backgrounds with different communication and linguistic
She is a member of the Lebanese Association for Speech &
Language Therapist (ALO) & the Emirates Speech Language Pathology Society. She is
currently the Aural Rehabilitation Specialist at Al Jalila Children's, working within the ENT and
Cochlear Implant teams. Hailing from Lebanon, Sabine is
fluent in Arabic, French, English, and the Sign Language.
