Endoscopy/ Gastroscopy

Gastroscopy is a nonsurgical procedure used to examine a person’s internal organs and vessels of your body. Using specialized instruments called endoscope, a flexible tube with a light and camera attached to it, the camera sends images of the inside of your oesophagus, stomach and duodenum to a monitor. It allows doctor to view pictures of your digestive without making large incisions.  

Gastroscopy can be used to:

  • Investigate problems such as persistent abdominal pain or difficulty swallowing
  • Diagnose conditions such as gastro-oesophageal reflux disease
  • Treat conditions such as bleeding ulcers and polyps
