Paediatric Dermatology

Our Paediatric Dermatologist Clinic specializes in providing a comprehensive diagnostic and management service for children with a wide range of dermatoses.

The Clinic provides the following services:

Outpatient service - General and specialist clinics allowing assessment and treatment to be discussed.

Specialist services - Atopic eczema with specialist nurse ; Birthmark Clinic

Inpatient service - If patients require inpatient admission, they will be admitted via the hospital paediatric service.

Day case minor operations service - Patients who require treatment of skin lesions or biopsy of lesions requiring planned services will be placed on the elective monthly day case operating list.

Consultation services - Paediatric dermatology consultation services are provided to all patients in need of a dermatology opinion admitted under other services in subspeciality wards, PICU, NICU, and the emergency department.

Other services - Paediatric patients with skin problems will benefit from the availability of comprehensive laboratory services and imaging/radiology services at Al Jalila Children’s in addition to availability of many subspecialities at Al Jalila Children’s while undergoing workup and management of their conditions.

As part of the multidisciplinary nature of how we treat our young patients, the Dermatology Clinic works closely with other clinics and subspecialities. The Clinic works, for example, with Dermatology, Plastic Surgery, ENT, and Interventional Radiology for conditions like birthmarks and vascular anomalies. For rare diseases such as xeroderma pigmentosa, the Dermatology, Neurology, Ophthalmology, and Plastic Surgery clinics are involved to manage the lifelong skin and eye disease children and their families will face.
