Anorectal Biofeedback allows patients to appreciate the pressures that they are able to generate in the anal canal through the assistance of visual or auditory stimuli. This can be used to train patients to generate a desired physiologic response. This is generally done with an anorectal manometry catheter, and the appropriate software application. In the MMS system, children will be able to manipulate an animation on a screen by increasing or decreasing their anal pressures. (A butterfly needs to fly over a mushroom, a submarine needs to float through a tunnel, etc.) Biofeedback needs to be done in multiple sessions over time.
